District Spring Convention and Harmony College
|
The annual Rocky Mountain District Spring Convention and contest will be combined with the the Rocky Mountain District Harmony College in 2013. At the district convention, the quartets eligible to compete in the International Contest in Toronto will be chosen. At the harmony college, classes will be offered in all areas of singing--sight singing, ear training, harmonics, presentation, the history of barbershopping, and many others. Annual Barbershop Concert
|
The Durango barbershop chorus and quartets, together with the women barbershoppers, present an evening of a cappella music, woven around the theme of "Hi, Neighbor." We promise an evening of G-rated entertainment, featuring not only local singers but the award-winning "Blue Steel" quartet from Albuquerque. The show venue is Smiley Auditorium at 3rd Avenue and 13th Street. Watch the Herald for information about ticket prices and sales outlets.

International Barbershop Convention
|
The International Barbershop Convention is truly international. The 2013 convention will be held in Toronto, and the participating groups will reflect the international nature of the Barbershop Society. There will be choruses and quartets from England, Sweden, New Zealand, and Australia, as well as from all over the USA and Canada. Selected choruses and quartets will compete for the international chorus, quartet, and collegiate quartet medals. Last year's winning quartet was from Stockholm, and the runner-up was from Wellington, New Zealand. For more information, see barbershop.org.

Silverton Barbershop Music Festival
|
Barbershop singers from all over the Southwest will gather in Silverton to rehearse and perform barbershop songs. The evening show, featuring the festival chorus, plus area choruses and quartets, will begin at 7 p.m. It will be in the Silverton School Gymnasium. There is no admission charge, though a free-will offering will be taken. Please come and enjoy this special a cappella concert.

Rocky Mountain District Fall Convention
|
The Rocky Mountain District Fall Convention will take place in Cheyenne; the Holiday Inn will be the headquarters hotel, and the contest sessions will be held in the Cheyenne Civic Center.
